The Mt Tamalpais Watershed has several internships starting in 2011 that offer direct application and practical experience of skills learned in school. The volunteer positions available are involved with vegetation ecology, GIS, photomonitoring, environmental education and database development. These activities will support such projects as the high school restoration field trip program, Sudden Oak Death monitoring, updating the Mt Tamalpais Rare Plant Report, Douglas-fir encroachment project and the Weed Watcher program. Students must commit to 35 hours during a semester and have substantial knowledge in one of these disciplines or the aptitude to learn. We also have volunteer habitat restoration events at least one Saturday per month and may be able to schedule mid-week events for groups. Please let me know who I should talk with at Sonoma State to get the word out. Students can contact me for more info or for an internship application. More information on volunteer opportunities on the Watershed can also be viewed on our website: http://marinwater.org/controller?action=menuclick&id=580 Thank you. Have a great holiday season.
