Position Description:
GDIT has an opening for a GIS/Mapping Analyst Level 1 (entry level) to support our US Forest Service customer on Mare Island in Vallejo California.This is a full-time job with a good salary and benefits. Due to the immediate need we are only considering local SF Bay Area candidates who are authorized to work in the USA.
The ideal candidate will be a recent college graduate who majored in Geography or a closely related field and who has a year or more of GIS related work experience.
Job Responsibilities: Experience using the following software: ArcGIS(ESRI), Oracle, Access(Microsoft), Excel(Microsoft) and other programs that are in a common office environment. Tasks may include: Spatial/non-spatial data editing and QC, database utilization, knowledge and use of geodatabases, image analysis, cartography, training, and creation of FGDC metadata.
Additional Requirements: Providing assistance with any combination of GPS and GIS services to create original mapping, format conversion, infrastructure analysis and facilities management services, database management and report preparation for various customers. Projects require a multitude of applications for a variety of disciplines including, forestry, wildlife, fire, pest management, inventory and modeling, land use analysis, hydrographic and hydrologic profiling, digital orthophoto imagery preparation, planimetric mapping services, and demographics.
Education/Experience: This position requires a BA/BS degree in a related field as well as 1-3 years of GIS/Mapping work experience.
